Don Coleman | Founder
Don Coleman is the Founder of Argo Commercial Capital. Prior to starting Argo in 2020, he was Vice President in the Debt and Structured Finance in a group in the Kansas City, Missouri office. Don financed properties across all asset classes with banks, Agency lenders, PACE providers, life companies and CMBS lenders. He provided borrowers with access to capital for property acquisitions, refinancing, major value-add projects, and new ground-up construction.

Don is involved in all aspects of commercial real estate financing solutions including loan origination, debt and equity sourcing, structuring, and underwriting.
Don served an instrumental role in developing Midland’s CMBS securitization capabilities and CMBS investor reporting. He also founded and developed the Credit Administration group for Midland Loan Services. Don has significant experience managing large portfolio securitization, loan sales, portfolio acquisitions, real estate auctions and B-piece CMBS acquisitions. His clients included Wall Street firms, hedge funds, FDIC and RTC, private lenders, numerous institutional funds, banks and Agency lenders. Through years of experience on these transactions, Don gained extensive knowledge on asset and property valuation and cash flow modeling across all commercial property types.
Don made important contributions during the formation of the CMBS industry by designing Credit Administration processes, investor reporting tools, physical property inspection requirements, and securitization processes which are still embodied in the CMBS industry today. He was awarded a U.S. patent for business methods used to deliver securitization data to investors. He earned another patent for transforming highly complex deal data into a visual depiction of a multi-layered structured transaction so investors could see their position relative to all other investors in a deal.

Over the past 30 years in commercial and residential real estate lending, he has worked with First Union Bank, Wachovia, HSBC Bank, New Penn Financial, and Capstone Financial. He has earned success in various roles from originations, business development, recruiting, production team management and the development of automated underwriting and portfolio management platforms.

Prior to Argo in 2020, John was with CBRE as a Vice President of the Debt and Structured Finance group with the Kansas City, MO office. With CBRE John successfully arranged client financing with Banks, Credit Unions, Agency Lenders, Life Insurance Companies, CMBS, Bridge Lenders, Private Debt Funds and PACE Lenders. He sourced client capital solutions for property acquisitions, refinances, significant repositions and new ground up construction. Asset classes included Multi-Family, Office, Retail, Mixed Use, Hospitality, Self-Storage, Special Use, Residential and Raw Land.
John supports clients in all aspects of commercial real estate financing solutions including loan origination, debt and equity sourcing, structuring and underwriting.
John has a successful history of opening the Kansas City real estate financing market for HSBC Bank, New Penn Financial, Capstone Financial and CBRE. John was part of the CBRE Debt and Structured Finance team that opened and grew the Kansas City market from zero to over $150,000,000 in fundings in three years.
